En los scripts de los programas de radio dedicados a la música folklórica española por la BBC (consultados en la Library of Congress, AFC 2004/004 ms.04.01.42) se describe la escena de las fotografías: "We whall end this talk with another example of this curious type of song. it deals with the failure of man to fear God and is sung by a woman. Seated on a little stool, she rests the small drum on her knee, leans her left elbow on the drum, her forehead on her left hand, shading her eyes with a handkerchief. With a drum stick in her right hand she beat sout a steady pulse on the drum. Her black dress, her posture, the melodic line, the drum rhytm, the lugubrious ululations - all contribute to give the scene a dark and gripping dramatic quality".
