En sus cuadernos, Lomax habla de su estancia en la pensión de Tomás Mateos:

Bur her costume [...] the period of her ideas, for she told me yesterday as we sat [...] that [...] had sadly changed since the war for now novios could go [...] alone with their novias [?]. [...] she said in the good old days, novios had only been able to approach a man as the corner of the house while the novia sat trembling [...]
