L. Salter, Esq.,
Dear Mr Salter,
Douglas Cleverdon tells me that you will be in Paris on teh 4th or 5th of February. I hope you can look me up. My temporary headquarters is at the Musee des Arts et Traditions Populaires (adress as above). Tel: PASSY 05.75.
Perhaps you have heard from B.B.C. that I have recorded about 170 reels of Spanish folk music from most, if not all of the areas of interest to your series on Third programme. I am at the present engated in cleaning this material up and in getting the texts straightened round and the notes in order.
The only large area in Spain which this series does not cover is Catalonia. If you have the opportunity to arrante to record any music from Catalonia (besides the eternal Sardanes available on many commercial records) I for one would be interested in adding them to my Spanish collection. There is a young man in Barcelona who was once a shepheard in the mountains not far from Andorra. This young man plays extremely lovely tunes on his flute and could guide you to find material in Catalonia. I was supposed to go collecting with him but never got back to Barcelona after meeting him. Unfortunately I have lost his name, but you could easily locate him by asking for him at Radio Barcelona where he often performes.
I write you this suggestion on the pure chance that you have some interest and inclination to record som material while you are in Barcelona.
I look foward to showing you some of the things I have.
With kind regards,
