Vegas de Matute
En la caja de la cinta original de las grabaciones realizadas en 1952 en Vegas de Matute, Lomax anota:
This small village is about 5 hours off the main road to Segovia. The land is harsh. Reels fences. The people make their living from wheat and oats and herdy. Almost all the land is owned by a lander, whose name most of people don't know.
Antonio Cassari, who hardly ever come here. He has an overseer. The people pay rent - in money, and has always been like this, the people, however, do not have this town 400 years old. no doweries have, altho there used to be. Some families have their own houses, others not, 500 pesetas a year, mostly most marriages are of this village. The fiesta, Santo Thomas, 29 of Diciembre, nowadays sing only modern songs, we are all very modernistas.
